# Lightscale AI > Lightscale AI is an AI app builder for business apps, comparable to other AI app builders but built for business software. Prompting is free with no credits. The AI writes the app in AI Language, a full programming language designed for AI; a compiler generates sign-in, access checks, database code, and data migrations and checks them deterministically. Lightscale AI Inc. is based in Zug, Switzerland. ## What it is - You describe a business app in plain language (for example a CRM, an ERP, HR, accounting, approvals, bookings, or an online shop), upload an Excel file, or start from a template. Lightscale AI builds a working app, often in under a minute. Because AIL is compact, building is about 10x faster and more precise than with other AI app builders. - The AI writes the app in AI Language (AIL), a new intermediate programming language designed for AI: records, rules, workflows, and who may see what. AIL is general purpose and as flexible as any programming language, but redesigned from the ground up for security, persistence, data protection, and correctness. Apps are composed in the language, so every part can be customized; its interface layer is as expressive as HTML and CSS. The backend guarantees stay enforced whatever the app does. Its design rules out whole classes of bugs and security holes. The compiler checks every program strictly, including whether the access the AI grants is plausible, and translates it into full application code: interface, access control, services, and database. - Only apps that pass the compiler's checks go live. The compiler requires access rules, consistent references between data, and public pages that expose only what the owner allows. ## What is guaranteed by design - Secure sign-in and access control are built in from the first version: each person sees only what the owner allows, checked on the server for every request. - Sign-in with passwords, passkeys, and two-factor in every app. - Each app runs on its own isolated data store and never reaches another app's data. - The compiler checks that every change is compatible with the previous version and the stored data. Every change migrates the stored records, and any change that would delete data or reduce its information, for example a conversion to a less precise type, requires the owner's confirmation. - Users never need to read or write AIL; it is an internal part of the AI technology. The compiler generates readable, well-structured documentation and specifications of each app from its AIL program, deterministically, so they always describe the app as it is built. - Workflows stay consistent, navigation between screens works, integrations are checked statically for compatible data models, and business rules hold as invariants, and many more properties are checked. - Security and data-protection documents for GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) are generated for every app, plus a privacy page and data-protection dashboard when the app holds personal data. - AIL builds in the GDPR and Swiss data protection law, with their workflows, and handles currencies and other critical details correctly. - Apps and their data are hosted in Switzerland, with encrypted backups. - Lightscale AI runs on fast, smaller models with little or no reasoning, and in an enterprise setup can switch to a capable open-weight model or its own model, for fully sovereign infrastructure independent of big tech. No credits, no subscription to create, no credit card required. Creating for free is subject to fair use. - Hosting costs CHF 50 per month per project, billed only while the app is hosted.
